The mission of An-Najah National University is not limited to providing academia to its students, but also has a duty towards the community which is of high importance. The University ensures continuous links with the local community by seeking and assessing their needs and attempting to respond to their demands by promoting available services.

An-Najah University occupies a unique position with respect to the definition of the social, cultural and political challenges we interact with in studies, data analysis and documentation. It also encourages its academics and students to conduct applied research in service of the local and international communities. This comes in accordance with one of the University's concepts, best defined as "Science in Service of Society".

Community service is achieved both on the institutional and individual levels through dedicating the work of more than 20 scientific centers that the University has which cooperate with the different faculties to achieve this purpose.

The office of the Vice President for Community Affairs ensures coordination between the local institutions in the country and the members of the faculty and administration staff at the University with respect to the organization of workshops, seminars and conferences, as well as consultancy in the different societal fields.
