On Wednesday, November 11th, 2015 the Deanship of Student Affairs at An-Najah in cooperation with the Palestinian Ministry of Education and Horizons organized the 2nd International Youth Conference titled "United for Justice and Peace”.

The conference consisted of nine sessions that mainly touched upon the Palestinian issue in the past and present, Palestine’s history, higher education, inequality and the Palestinian youth’s perception of the West. It also shed light upon women’s role in the Palestinian community, relations among religions, the role of social media in the Palestinian cause and the mutual relations between Palestinians and Europeans as well as the role of youth movements around the world.

Professor Maher Natsheh, Acting President of An-Najah talked about the importance of mutual cooperation, constructive cultural dialogues between cultures and the principles of justice and fairness. He added that An-Najah always tries to establish relations with the European countries, especially those that support our cause.

Ms Charlotte Folard, Horizons Coordinator in Europe talked further about the international youth solidarity campaigns with the Palestinian people and stressed the importance of regaining the Palestinians’ rights. She also pointed to the important role f youth play in shaping the future of the region.

Dr. Muammar Ishtewi, Director General of the Palestinian Ministry of Education talked about the ministry’s role in supporting communication and mutual cooperation between the Palestinian and European youth organizations.

Mr. Moussa Abu Dayeh, Dean of Student Affairs at An-Najah stated that the conference aims at reinforcing youth exchange and mutual cooperation between Palestinian and the European universities.

The conference participants recommended supporting and reinforcing the Palestinian-European cultural dialogue through international youth organizations.

-          The conference was also attended by Mr. Ahmad Hamarsheh and Mr. Ayman Houdali from the Palestinian Ministry of Education and Higher Education; Dr. Ahmad Ra’fat; Miss Samar Muhsen, Events Coordinator and Mr. Alaa Abu Dheir, Coordinator of Zajel International Youth Exchange Programme and a number of Palestinian and European university students.

-          Students from the Arab American University of Jenin performed a miming performance on the Palestinians’ struggle.

-          Horizon is an international youth movement promoting global justice, equality and intercultural understanding. Horizons promotes intercultural dialogue between youth, fosters cooperation between the East and the West, creates awareness about injustice and inequality, empowers youth to promote mutual respect, envisions being the voice of youth who speak out against radicalism and intolerance and calls upon politicians to implement and pursue just policies worldwide.
