On Thursday, September 10, 2015 An-Najah’s Youth Exchange Programme (Zajel) of the Public Relations Department organized a workshop on the heritage, identity and history of Bosnia.

The workshop aimed at introducing An-Najah students to the history and traditions of Bosnia as part of the activities of the Zajel's cultural exchange programme.

The workshop was given by Zajel volunteer Sedenia Senovich from Bosnia who talked about the features of the Bosnian identity and the conditions it went through during the Balkan and the impact of war on the people of Bosnia. She also displayed a number of photos that represented Bosnian clothing, folklore and music.

The presentation also included an introduction to Bosnia’s old and contemporary history from the Roman era up to the Balkan war when Yugoslavia was divided into many disputed countries.

She also talked about leader Alija Izetbegović's role in defending Bosnia during the war and mentioned that he signed the Dayton Peace Accords.

The volunteer discussed the siege of the city of Sarajevo, capital of Bosnia that lasted for four years and resulted in the death of thousands of people.

At the end of the workshop, the volunteer answered the students' questions on the matter.
