On Thursday, September 3, 2015 An-Najah’s Buisness Innovation and Partnership Center (NaBIC) in cooperation with IBDAA, a company that provides support in the areas of academia, science and technology to the Palestinian community and An-Najah’s Institute of Industrial Engineer (IIE)  held a workshop introducing students to intellectual property. The workshop was funded by USAID.

Dr. Yahya Saleh, Director of NaBIC welcomed the attendees and mentioned that the workshop aims at reinforcing students' thinking and innovation skills.

Mr. Rasem Sawwan, Executive Director of IBDAA talked about the company's mission and the projects it does pointing out that it has a significant role in supporting entrepreneurship and technological innovation projects.

Dr. Mazen Abu Sharia, Director of the Intellectual Property Office at the Palestinian Ministry of National Economy presented on the definition of intellectual property, its types and importance. He also discussed the procedures needed to have intellectual property for an idea or a project.

Dr. Naeem Salameh, Lecturer at the Faculty of Law talked about intellectual property from a legal point of view.

At the end of the workshop, representatives answered the attendees' questions on the matter.

-         IBDAA is a Company that was created to strengthen and enhance the academic, scientific and technology base to ensure a local growth in Palestine and global leadership in ICT. The activities IBDAA will carry out will help drive and stimulate creativity and innovation of products, services and processes through ICT implementation. It will also ensure that ICT innovations are rapidly transformed into jobs and growth for the benefits of Palestinian citizens, businesses, industry and government. Bridging the gap between the academic research, the work force and the market needs is another advantage of IBDAA.
