Recommendations of the First National Conference for Student Services
On Tuesday, August 25th, 2015 An-Najah in cooperation with EU Projects Office, Held the first “National Conference for Student Services in Palestinian Universities”. The MEDAWEL-TEMPUS funded conference was held at the Korean IT Institute, New Campus.
The conference resulted in a number of recommendations that ultimately aim at improving services offered to students in Palestinian universities. The recommendations included unified student services programmes in all Palestinian universities, holding training workshops for student councils, developing e-learning (distance learning) in Palestinian universities and making surveys and questionnaires on students’ satisfaction of the offered services.
It was also recommended that special programmes should be designed for students with disabilities, and that comparative studies should be conducted on student services in foreign universities. The Conference also recommended creating ties between universities and public institutions.
In addition, reinforcing extracurricular activities, working towards reducing unemployment rates among graduates, and finally supporting scientific and cultural cooperation with other Palestinian and international universities through staff and student academic exchange were among the recommendations.
