On Tuesday, August 11th, 2015, the Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT) at An-Najah held its fourth Symposium: The Art of the Possible on New Trends in Education.

The symposium consisted of three sessions that shed light on community based education, e-learning and applied learning respectively.

It also aimed at sharing powerful ideas for today’s educators, building a community of practitioners across disciplines and acknowledging the achievement of practitioners.

Professor Maher Natsheh, Acting President of An-Najah commended the staff's efforts and stressed the importance of the symposium as it embodies An-Najah's aspirations and objectives. He also talked about CELT's achievements as it trained 140 staff members who are able now to blend technology with learning. He added that the center launched 28 courses in cooperation with public and private sectors institutions.

Dr. Abdulkarim Daraghmeh, Director of CELT presented on the center's objectives as it aims at increasing learners’ involvement in the teaching and learning process, practicing new methods in teaching and learning and Facilitating the transition from traditional teaching to new practices. He talked about MOODLE courses as a demonstration of blended education at An-Najah.

The symposium resulted in a number of recommendations some of which were organizing academic trips to staff to raise their awareness of the non-traditional teaching-learning, offering training programmes on modern teaching and adding courses that blend technology with education to match the labor markets' needs.

Notes:

-          The symposium was also attended by Dr. Mohammad El-Amleh, Vice President of Academic Affairs, Dr. Adnan Melhem, Vice President of Community Affairs, Mr. Bassam Kort, Acting Director of the USAID Office and others.

-          Students from the interior design course (5) gave a short video on how they designed a prototype of a multi-purpose room for the PR Department, New Campus.

-          At the end of the conference, participants were awarded certificates by Professor Natsheh, Dr. El-Amleh and Dr. Melhem.

-          Attendees were given a tour to the Student Project Exhibition.
