 On Wednesday, June 10th, 2015, and under the patronage of President Mahmoud Abbas, An-Najah National University celebrated the launching of its 35th graduation ceremonies with the honoring of the top students from all faculties. The event took place at the Prince Turki Bin Abdul Aziz auditorium in the New Campus and was attended by a number of Palestinian ministers as well as representatives from the Consulates of the US, Guyana, Mexico, Sri Lanka, and Austria and other notable attendees.

The ceremony started with a speech by Mr. Sabeeh Masri, Chairman of An-Najah’s Board of Trustees, followed by a speech by Professor Maher Natsheh, Acting President of An-Najah, then Prime Minister Professor Rami Hamdallah, and finally the best achieving student Mai Tamim. The ceremony also included two performances by An-Najah’s choir with maestro Dr. Ghawi Ghawi.

In his speech, Mr. Sabeeh Al-Masri welcomed the Prime Minister and addressed the graduating students with valuable pieces of advice for succeeding in their future careers, stressing that success requires persistence, hard work and passion.

Prime Minister Prof. Rami Hamdallah in turn, delivered President Abbas’s best wishes for the graduates and for the coming month of Ramadan and praised him for his devotion to serving the country and people of Palestine.

He went on to talk about An-Najah’s ranking where it maintained the progress it made in the last ten years. He said "An-Najah is Palestine’s top university, and ranks within the first ten universities in the Arab world, and among the top 25% on the international level. With its accredited programmes, faculty members and students, An-Najah has received several international awards in the field of scientific research and production".

He also talked about the importance of scientific research in Palestine as the Government has been encouraging Palestinian universities to give extra attention and priority to scientific research and vocational qualifications, as demanded by the Palestinian economy.

He also stressed that “the Unity Government is seeking tirelessly to pass on its achievements in the education sector in the West Bank to the Gaza strip as part of the efforts to reinforce reconciliation and set the bases for the Palestinian state". 

Prof. Hamdallah also saluted the Palestinian prisoners in the Israeli prisons, who are on hunger strike for their perseverance and saluted the souls of the Palestinian martyrs.

Professor Maher Natsheh, Acting President of An-Najah, thanked Prof. Rami Hamdallah for his efforts in setting the foundations of the university and taking it to an international competitive level.  He also listed the university’s achievements in the year 2014, most notable of which was An-Najah's Child Institute, An-Najah’s Satellite station, the training hospital as well as new BA and MA programmes.

The last speech was by student Mai Tamim, top in the university with a GPA of 3.93/4, in which she expressed her great joy and pride and thanked her professors and her family.
