On Tuesday, April 28, 2015, Yabous Museum organized April's Heritage Cultural Festival at Zafer Al-Masri auditorium at An-Najah's Old Campus.

The festival aimed at accomplishing the museum's main objective which is gaining UNISCO recognition as the first international youth museum. It also aimed at exhibiting Palestinian heritage through various cultural activities which it holds locally and internationally.

The festival included a comedic performance, poetry readings, recitation of national songs and rapping.

Mr. Momen Shobaki, the Internal Manager of Yabous Museum at An-Najah, considered the festival “the dream which has become true to more than 50 young people.” He also commended the individuals and the institutions that contributed in making the festival a success.

Mr. Mazen Rasmi, from the Department of Archeology at An-Najah, drew a clear analogy between the Arab and the Western realities and cultures.

Mr. Sawalmeh, Head of the Palestinian Scouts Association at Palestine and Diaspora, said that the museum reflects the Palestinian identity as it sprung from the essence of the Palestinian suffering; the Palestinian Camps.

Notes:

-          The festival was organized in cooperation with the Department of Tourism and Archeology and the Students' Union Council at An-Najah.

-          The festival was also attended by Dr. Amer Qubbaj, Head of the Department of Tourism and Archeology, and Mr. Mohammad Al-Aaidi, General Manager of Yabous Museum and others.

-          The Palestinian Scouts consists of 120 thousand members from Palestine and Diaspora.

-          The Scout movement in Palestine started in 1912. The Palestinian Scout Association was recognized by the World Scout Bureau in 1945. However, recognition was withdrawn in 1949. Official recognition was restored by the World Scout Conference in 1996, and the Palestinian Scout Association serves youth throughout the State of Palestine. The headquarters are in Ramallah in the West Bank, and the International Commissioner is Dr. Fayeq H. Tahboub.
