On Tuesday, March 10, 2015, a Round Table workshop was held at An-Najah National University to discuss three models of autobiography of prominent American writers. It also included presentations by American Studies students who discussed the autobiographies of Malcolm X, Benjamin Franklin and Booker T. Washington. The students' presentations concentrated on Malcolm X as an Afro-American Muslim activist. The discussion included his personal life, his impact on the Afro-Americans, his role in the Civil Rights Movement and the changes he has gone through in his life.

The workshop was moderated by Prof. Cynthia Franklin, Lecturer at the University of Hawaii, and attended by Prof. Sanna Towns, Independent Writing Consultant and English Language Specialist, Dr. Nabil Alawi, Professor of American Literature, Dr. Okab Jebali, Head of the Language Center and Alia Gilbrecht, the American Corner Coordinator.

In her turn, Professor Cynthia Franklin, Lecturer at the University of Hawaii discussed her book entitled as Life in Occupied Palestine. In her presentation "Autobiography and Resistance", she has drawn a clear analogy between the above mentioned personas and their achievements and the Palestinian characters mentioned in her book and their achievements.

Professor Franklin also recognizes the Palestinians' right of return and concluded that success is not materialistic; rather, it is regaining one's freedom that nature entitles him to. The three autobiographies offer models of resistance to injustice that range from a militant stand to a peaceful compromise and they ignited interesting debates among students

Prof Franklin also will create a website for possible autobiographical contributions that students from the American Studies at An-Najah can join and publish their diaries and autobiographical accounts.
