An-Najah’s student branch of the Institute of Electric and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) headed by Wadee’ Suleiman, participated in the IEEE (Region 8) Student and Young Professionals (SYP) Congress 2014 held in Poland.

The conference included a number of scientific and social events and activities, in addition to seminars which the IEEE steering committee members took turn in leading.

The conference also included technical workshops, which included computing, telecommunications, energy, business entrepreneurial ship and electronics.

Wadee’ Suleiman, a student member of An-Najah’s IEEE, participated in a number of field visits to research centres and technical facilities in the city of Krakow. One of the biggest events in which Suleiman participated was “Heritage Night”, where the Palestinian students displayed different Palestinian foods and sweets, and Suleiman wore traditional Palestinian clothes.

On “Heritage Night” Suleiman said:

“It was a very special evening as we were introduced to new cultures and their heritage”.

The visits also included a trip to Motorola Incorporated.

The Conference also included sessions for each student branch to display their printed work, introducing their peers from around the world to their work.

Suleiman, added:

I would like to thank Dr. Allam Mousa, An-Najah’s IEEE branch Consultant for his support and for facilitating the branch’s activities”.

-          The Conference lasted for 4 days, held between 6-8 August 2014.

-          The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) is a professional association with its corporate office in New York City and its operations centre in Piscataway, New Jersey. It was formed in 1963 from the amalgamation of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers and the Institute of Radio Engineers. Today it is the world's largest association of technical professionals with more than 400,000 members in chapters around the world.

-          The SYP Congress is an international, annual event organized by the IEEE, with over 400 engineering students from around the around attending to discuss present and future challenges that face engineering, and also network and learn more about IEEE and exchange knowledge.

-          IEEE SYP’s Region 8 includes the Middle East, Africa and Europe.
