On Monday 14 April An-Najah hosted Mr. Carsten Walbiner, General Director of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) in the Palestinian Territory. Mr. Walbiner gave a presentation on the scholarships offered by DAAD. The event took place at the Zafir Al-Masri Auditorium on the Old Campus and was attended by around 50 students as well as staff members.

Before the presentation, Dr. Khalid Ilawi, Scholarships coordinator at An-Najah, welcomed Mr. Walbiner expressing his hope that An-Najah and the DAAD will continue to cooperate providing scholarships to An-Najah graduates for the different post graduate programmes. Dr. Ilawi also encouraged the students to apply for the DAAD scholarships.

Mr. Walbiner started his presentation by greeting the students and staff of An-Najah, and went on to give a general introduction to university life in Germany and the postgraduate, the PhD and the staff short visit scholarships offered by the DAAD.

Mr. Walbiner then elaborated on the post-graduate scholarships; the requirements such as the GPA and the English level, the deadlines for application and interviews and the provisions.

The session concluded with Mr. Walbiner answering delegates’ questions.

2-      The DAAD or The German Academic Exchange Service is the largest German support organisation in the field of international academic co-operation, and it is a private, federally funded and state-funded, self-governing national agency of the institutions of higher education in Germany, representing 365 German higher education institutions (100 universities and technical universities, 162 general universities of applied sciences, and 52 colleges of music and art.
