Under the patronage of Professor Maher Natsheh, Acting President of An-Najah National University, the organisers of Global Windows Azure Boot camp held the first cloud technology conference on Thursday 4 April at the Conference Hall in the Korean Institute of Technology. This is considered one of the most important technology conferences to take place around the world.

The organisers of the event in Palestine were able to raise Palestine’s name for the first time in the biggest cloud technology event in the world.

The event was opened by Dr. Sufian Samara, lecturer in the Computer Engineering Department and Event Supervisor, who spoke about An-Najah’s important role in hosting and supporting international conferences and representing Palestine in many international events.

Mr. Sudqi Dweikat, Project Director at MENA-X *; discussed the company’s support for technology projects in Palestine and supporting the students in launching their own projects, he also talked about the role of cloud technology in new-born projects.

In his speech, Mohammad Diab , Microsoft student representative at An-Najah and one of the organisers of the event, talked about the significance of this event both locally and internationally and how it helps develop cloud technology in Palestine, indicating that Palestine is the 3rd Arab country, and 44th worldwide to host the event.

Mr. Ahmad Hamad, Technical Director at HundW CONSULT MENA, gave a detailed presentation on cloud technology and Microsoft’s Windows Azure platform. Mr. Hamad also talked about the world’s data storage centres and how special applications work with cloud technology such as web apps and website management.

Mr. Abdelathim Bukhary, Founder of MENA-X, spoke about the rising projects in cloud technology, their individual types and tasks performed. He also presented on the use of cloud technology in mobile and computer applications, how data is stored, and how to build an app that uses cloud technology.

 Mr. Hussam Dweikat, General Director of Isara’a Computer and Programming, gave advice on the importance of participating in such conferences, something that would reflect positively on the future of technology in Palestine and expand the nation's horizons.

CEO of Palestinian Information & Communication Technology Incubator (PICTI) Mr. Hasan Amro talked about pioneers in the field and harnessing Palestinian potential to change and improve the technological reality in Palestine through cloud technologies.

At the end of the event, all the organisers, the participants and the funding libraries of the conference were honoured.

1-      Cloud Computing is computing that involves a large number of computers connected through a communication network such as the Internet, similar to utility computing .

2-      MENA-X is a Palestinian company that fosters new-born projects.
