Introduction

The Department of Psychology was established in 1979 as a single specialisation area leading to an offer of a B.A. degree  on credit hours bases.

Goals of the Department:

The major goals of the Department are as follows:

  • To meet the needs and demands of our society by graduating qualified students who will work in different areas and fields such as counselling, psychologist, special education, security forces.
  • Provide students with the foundations, theories and practical aspects which are necessary for diagnosis and treatment.
  • Develop student's skills which are necessary for research, evaluation and measurements.
  • Develop student's skills in using the computer and to apply these processes in helping our clients.
  • Provide students with ethical rules and professionality principles which help to promote the profession and the clients we help.

The Psychology Department offers a Bachelor Degree of Arts (B.A.) in Psychology. Each student must successfully pass 131 credit hours in order to graduate.
The Department also offers a Diploma of Education for students in all other Undergraduate Majors who want to work in the educational system after finishing the required 32 credit hours for graduation.

Master of Educational Administration

The Department offers a Masters Degree in Educational Administration. The student is required to finish 33 credit hours and the master thesis, or successfully pass 36 credit hours and the comprehensive exam.

Admission Requirements

To join the Department of Psychology, (dep't. cole #1), a student must successfully complete 'Introduction to Psychology 71112,' 'Developmental Psychology 71115' and 'Descriptive Statistics 71114.' A minimum of 70% must be obtained in the first two courses and a minimum of 60% in the third course.

Requirements for a B.A. degree in Psychology

The Department of Psychology offers a single specialisation leading to a B.A. Degree in Psychology. Students wishing to obtain an Undergraduate Degree in Psychology must complete 131 credit hours chosen from University, College and Department compulsory and elective courses, in addition to “free” courses.
