The Deanship of Graduate Studies and Scientific
Research was originally established in 1986. In 1995, the Deanship of Scientific
Research was administratively separated as an independent deanship in order to
serve research activities in Palestine. The Deanship of Scientific Research
carries out the following responsibilities:
Organizing, coordinating and supporting scientific
research in Palestine.
Publishing two scientific research journals, namely
An-Najah University Journal for Research (Humanities) ISSN 1727-8449 and An-Najah University
Journal of Research (Natural Sciences) ISSN 1727-2114.
Creating and building research databases.
Exploring the possibilities for research cooperation
with other research institutions. This includes joint research, project funding
and conference participation.
Scientific Research Committee (SRC)
The SRC’s duties include assisting in the formulation of a general policy for
scientific research at the University and aiding its implementation. In
addition, the SRC is in charge of organizing and promoting research. In
addition to the Dean of Scientific Research, the committee includes six
professors of different disciplines.
Journal Editorial Board
The Editorial Board steer An-Najah University Journal for Research (Humanities
and Social Science) and Journal for Research (Natural Sciences). Both journals
accept original high quality articles, short notes, letters and review papers.
Each participation is peer reviewed by specialists. Board members are selected
from among known Professors of different disciplines.
Future Outlooks:
The Deanship of Scientific Research is currently planning to globalize research
activities in Palestine. Work is underway to get both research journals indexed
and abstracted in international indexing houses. Expansion of boards of editors
is also underway, to include professors from outside Palestine.
